The new Woolworths retail store located at Crows Nest, Sydney, Australia. The architect designed the façade of the building with vertical fins in width of 50mm and depths in 112 and 263 mm. The challenge was the building is facing the Sydney Harbour where salty air is expected all year round. Besides, there were 31 different colours on the vertical fins to create an exterior building façade with rainbow of colours.
The vertical fins were fabricated with aluminium skin and honeycomb core for lightweight but able to withstand for wind pressure. APR grade thermosetting powder coating based on saturated super-durable polyester resins was applied on the surface of the vertical fins in rainbow of colours that exhibits excellent outdoor durability and outstanding decorative properties.
